Discovery

Castro do Zambujal
One of several strategic forts at the center of the Beaker saga.  Zambujal is located on the north bank of the Tagus.  Strategically, it would have been a very important post for North-South Sea traffic and all Tagus traffic.

Castelo Velho de Freixo de Numão

Castelo Velho de Freixo de Numão (Vila Nova de Foz Côa) was build around 3,000 B.C. on the summit of a spur, probably as an observation fortress, then abandoned.  Sometime afterwards it was occupied and enlarged, apparently by Beakers, and for a very long time to the end of the Bronze Age.

The ruins of the Beaker fort were briefly used once again in the Middle Ages and abandoned permanently.

Morgawr!
The sewn-plank beast goes to sea.  Researchers are still trying to understand the techniques used by the Beaker shipwrights.  These large boats propelled the Beaker expansion through Europe's river networks and the Mediterranean.
